The trunk underneath my spoiler is rusting. It's not very bad yet, its just barley visible underneath the spoiler. Still, that's too much for me. Anybody have any suggestions on what I could do, or will I have to buy a new back hatch:(? Please tell me! I live where it's VERY humid, and I don't want it to get too much worse.

The dredded spoiler rust was one of the reasons I bought a coupe instead of the fastback. If the rust is superficial you can pull the spoiler and clean the body up yourself. Personally I would leave the foam spoiler off after that because they seem to be little rust incubators. If its real bad just go looking for a new hatch at your friendly neighborhood junk yard and have it painted to match your car. :sleep

I think this is a problem that at least half of all 240 hatch owners deal with. I pulled my spoiler a couple months ago to find three rust holes that went all the way through the deck, just about three inches across. Since I am poor right now, duct tape is doing my body work untill i can afford a new hatch. Who's idea was a foam spoiler anyway? Thats my only gripe with the 240.

Well I'm glad the guy that I bought my 240 from already took the spoiler off. He sealed the holes so that you almost can't even see them.

What's the best way to fill in the spoiler holes to prep it for a paint job?

Visit your local salvage yard, and get a hatch from a fb without a spoiler. I was able to replace my GF's for only a 100 dollars. Install is maybe 30 mins it is pretty easy if you have worked on your cars interior before.

Buy a new one. I talked to a guy at a body shop, and he told me that with vibration and ish like that, the bondo wouldn't work that well, and it would be a high risk to rust again. i said "wow, you must suck at body work" Then i got a new hatch sans-spoiler for like 150 dollars, glass comes in it.
