So I hear this thing called spoiler rot for the TT spoiler because of elements getting under the spoiler

My spoiler is warped on the top you can see it in the paint (hopefully a paint defect) and the backing part with the decals is waving with the backing foam expanded an abnormal amount. I have no idea where to start on this one. Anyone know where I can get an OEM TT spoiler or anyone have experience with this?

I will get pics this weekend, kinda ticked off

Yeah mine is doing the same thing..however it will if it hasn't already ..start to rust out your rear hatch...mine has a couple rust holes and water gets in through them. I found a guy near by that is going to sell me the whole hatch ..glass and all for $250. That is your best bet. Even if you get a coupe non turbo hatch you can always get a new spoiler for around 100.00 bucks on ebay if you want that same turbo style. However I think i'm going to go with the newer style turbo spoiler that raises off the hatch lid..i don't want my new hatch rusting out like the last one. i will post pics when i take it off and put the new one on. It should be fun. I have to drop the headliner and unbolt the heavy *** hatch and take all the old panels off. Keep you updated! Oh btw..post a Want it NOW..on Ebay..someone will respond with a hatch i'm sure.

KurumaZ makes a stock replacement.

The stock '90-'93 spoiler is made out of a rubber-type material, when you take it off, you will be able to tell this. But as Milo said, KurumaZ makes an exact replica of the stock spoiler, fitment is perfect.

Why the heck does this happen, I want to prevent this if I get the KurumaZ wing or if I can salvage my current one.

The material rots or what? What actual piece rots? or does water just get stuck under it or what?

I believe the spoiler rots, cracks, and warps. If you take the old spoiler off in time, you could save the hatch. Just take off the spoiler, and if there is no rust, put on the KurumaZ spoiler.

if you want a stockish looking replacement the only way to go is with the kaminari spoiler not the kuruma one

How do you stop spoiler rot alltogether if I put a new wing on? Is there something in just the OEM spoiler that rots, or is it a possible future problem with any spoiler I would buy?

i dobut that the aftermarket spoilers are made of the cheap rubber that the z32 came with originally, but you would avoid it by garaging it/covering it. It's nature that messes it up. :'(

its actually not just 300zx's that do this... my friend has a 90 240sx and he has the exact same problem.

K031452 is the only TT spoiler I see by Kaminari and it is a far cry from the stock TT spoiler, looks nothing like it to me. Is this the part you were talking about?

I really don't think it matches the OEM...

Kurma Has it down Niiiiiice

Kurma and OEM I can't see the diff at all....

Anyone have any take on the material used to make these?

The new ones are advertised as being all fiberglass shell with no need for the internal foam (which they say is what is actually "rotting", getting water logged and causing the outer shell to deform). Also causing the trunk lid to rust out.
