I have a spoiler on the way to intall on my 94 Q. Goody said I need some clips that are a replacement item. I called EverythingInfiniti and they said they see no such part in FAST. Does anyone know the part number? Is there anything else I need. All the gaskets are in place

You may need to put in the stronger hinge springs to offset the spoiler's weight.

Yeah I thought about that too, probably something I can find used. I need to get the mounting hardware from the dealer

01553-06511.... Clip, rear spoiler... $2.19 X 201553-39621.... Grommet............... $1.71 X 2

I believe the clip mounts to the spoiler and the grommet mounts to the hole you're drilling in the trunk.

These are May 06 prices. If you have all the gaskets you'll need rubber washers, nuts and screws. These can be gotten at an Ace Hardware (or equivalent) for much less than Infiniti will charge you.

Call me when you're ready to install. I have a template and want to take a picture of you as you drill that first hole in your trunk lid. The first hole hurts a lot. The rest aren't too painful.

You will also need the T and a rear parcel shelf and maybe a harness extension for the CHMBL in the spoiler.

Jared plans ahead. He's already got the tan rear parcel deck without 3rd brake light. The plug for the spoiler brake light is under the trunk interior trim, waiting to be used. No extension needed.

Do remember to check the light before bolting down the spoiler. The spoiler lens doesn't pop out like the side markers. The only way I've found to change the bulb is to remove the entire spoiler from the trunk (PITA).

Thanks Goody I ill call and order these tomorrow.

I have the rear parcel shelf (thanks to Goody)

I am not sure if I need the extention, I found the harness on the driver side of the trunk so it will depend how long the spoiler wiring is

What's the difference in parcel shelves? I was going to do this in the last Q and will do this on the next one. I'm fine with an extra brake light if thats all it is...really

Well, I believe you can only hook up one brake light, and one of the best things about the spoiler is removing the interior CHMBL from the view and giving you a visual reference of the rear of the car when backing.

Oh, and the aerodynamics too.

removing the extra light also reduces the weight thereby increasing 0-60 times

I will be sure to take pictures of the install to help others, maybe another article

Wes did you ever publish my other one?

If not, send it to me and I'll turn it into a Acrobat file.

My main question is the extra harness tail standard in the trunk, or does it need to be purchased?

When I installed the spoiler on my base Q the plug was unused under the trim. No extension was needed. The light assembly on the spoiler has a pretty long extension, about 12" if I recall. It will plug in to the existing harness plug.

The same is true for Q's with factory installed spoilers. You'll find an unused plug (for the uninstalled brake light) under the black insulation material on the rear window deck.

I think you'll find that all Q's of the same year will have the same electrical harnesses (per the FSM) but some will have more unused connectors (base) than others (active).

All model Q's have this already in the trunk waiting to be used and no extension is needed Brian.

Thanks guys. All I need is a tan rear parcel shelf and a spoiler.

Oh, and the stronger springs, for which I have never seen a part number.

If anyone needs a spoiler i've got one just let me know. Its from an A but is the same exact thing as the one for the T.You also need a rubber weather stripping like thing that runs around the edge of the spoiler,it seals the spoiler from letting water get under it.The one part has been discontinued but the other one is still available.

Which part is current and what about the stronger springs part number?

not sure what article you're talking about? Was it about the active conversion, because I think I might have, if not I will do that IMMEDIATELY.

EDIT: I remember now, do you recall if everything was ready to go?

NO way - just push the right side of the lense and it releases the spring clip comes out in 2 seconds.

I am talking about the big grommet that goes around the brake like wire, not the lens itself

I recall it being both sides at once with the thumbs.

I'll have to check the light removal as you've described it. Mine must be froze.

Jared- It's about a 1/2" hole for the electrical. I can't remember exactly but it's on the template.

I hate to admit it but I think I used a 1/4" drill in a circular motion to get to the right size. Call me Hack.

I fixed your link, it was taking you to the Q45 sub- forum, versus a single thread.

Nice write up and pics. Wes should article-ize it soon.
