As promised a How To

The unaltered trunk lid

Picture of the spoiler light plug, you can have both the standard CHMBL works in conjunction with the spoiler CHMBL. There is no extension needed for the wires

Mark the holes for the spoiler screws

Mark top bolt holes

Lay down plastic to catch all the metal shavings

Get out your drill and UniBit

Bold and nuts are around .20 inches, I drilled my holes 3/8 in as it allows a little play and the gaskets still cover them

You will need a Unit bit that goes up to 3/4. in for the spoiler wire plug

Holes drilled no going back now

Test fit

I had to swap my chrome emblems to the car as it had gold. I used tape to out line their location The emblems that go on the spoiler are curved, standard ones are not. However they still fit. I probably will replace them if I come a across a set

Attaching 3M Double sided tape, use a brand new blade

Done!

New toolbox emblem

Your spoiler came out sooooo beautiful.

If I had a black spoiler, I'd want t do it to my black Q. You did an amazing job. Very nice.

Very nice!! Came out great....

How did you mark the holes, did you just measure them on the spoiler on tape and stick it on?

Thanks for the postive feedback

I started with a template made by Goody

The holes across the back a can be measured off of the key hold center line then up from the painted part of the trunk 2 1/2 inches

The tape and stick method may work too

On a side note...Nice garage floor!

Did you use one of those "paint kits" from Home Depot or Lowes?

I know another good way to attach those emblems is to use RTV... Theres already a groove for it in the numbers, so one may try that next time around.

No that is water or solvent based

I used this 100% epoxy

That means what you lay down is what you get

Awesome. So would it be better to install it, and then get the whole car painted?

How difficult is it to put a body kit on? Like in my driveway. I've been thinking of doing that, and then getting the car repainted a deep deep black. Like serious black.

body kits are very difficult. Side skirts, easy. but the front and real bumpers have to be test fitted and re-test fitted to get the alignment just right. Its possible to DIY but you might end up with gaps in odd places. I don't mean to get you down, but I did my Miata myself and it looked ghetto. I was very careful, and ended up just taking it to a body shop. The proper procedure is to fit the kit to the car, drive it for a couple days and re-check any alignment issues, then take the kit off and have it painted, then final install. Complicated.

Hi there,Hopefully, I am doing this posting correctly and putting this in the right thread.I am helping a friend research the 94 Infinity Q45 to find a body kit for this car. The only one's I have found so far have been grey one's that needs to be primed and painted. Does anyone have any advice on where to find one at? This is a project he is about to work on.Thank you.

Welcome to NICO. All body kits for any car will require sanding, priming, and painting. It is strongly recomended to have a custom body shop do the work. Be careful with cheap body kits on ebay, they are made from cheap fiberglass and will fall apart within a year or two. The Q45 has excelent syling from the factory and most of us prefer not to install body kits.

If you get a body kit and you plan on it fitting right you will want a body shop to do it, unless of course you have body experience... especially since we're dealing with OLD cars, the body kits wont fit just perfect. Maybe on a brand new car you wont have issues, but on old cars things just dont fit like they did back in 1994.
