Just curious why everybody says to make sure that the bushings are straight when installing? Is it just easier to install? Or can it damage the sleeve? Thanks.

If the bushings isn't centered and perpendiculat to the frame (or straight into the hole) you can damage the bushings...or maybe even your sub frame if you're using a press - it is a LOT of force you're using....also, freezing the bushings is a good idea.

Actually, I heated my bushings.....Most materials are much more maleable when hot....I also feel that freezing most materials makes them brittle....

DEFINITELY freeze the bushings. heating makes them more succeptible to damage and warpage. Freezing them just makes them smaller to install easier. they should be pressed into place and not pounded, so as long as they are nicely perpendicular to the subframe and not frozen with liquid nitrogen (use a freezer!) being brittle won't matter. Oh, if possible, do it in hot weather so the subframe is as expanded as possible. DO NOT heat the subframe. This will weaken it.
