In case you're wondering, I have a similar thread here on FreshAlloy. I decided to post it here in response to another post about the bushings.

Using the SawzAll to remove the rubber subframe bushing:

The inner metal sleeve and some rubber, after removal:

Burning the bushings out:

"Uh huh huh, hey Beavis: Burnination is cool!"

The aftermath. Notice the brittle rubber pieces left over, and discoloration of the subframe:

The old subframe bushing outer sleeve:

The sandblasted 180SX subframe:

Frozen SPL aluminum bushings:

One bushing installed by heating the subframe with an oxy-acetylene torch:

Installing the bushings using a vice:

All 8 bushing pieces installed in the subframe:

The complete subframe after being sprayed with some Eastwood Epoxy spray paint:

My teammate Rob holding the subframe while I “mechanically persuade” it to go on:

The subframe being difficult about going back on:

The tools of mechanical persuasion:

Installed!

Nice installation guide. I figured I'd post mine to give people a different set of experiences and pictures. BTW, your camera sucks at focusing!

A SawzAll is essential for this process IMO. Not only did it help to get most of th rubber out before I used the Oxy-Acetylene torch, but it also made quick work of the outer metal sleeves. I just had to be very careful not to damage the subframe collar itself.

I was also lucky because I was able to sandblast and paint mine before reinstalling it. This is mainly because my car isn't daily-driven and I could stand the downtime.

..hehe. The camera doesn't suck at focusing. I do! I had it @ panoramic view or something...instead of close-up. You can see that the far things look nice, while the close things (important) are out of focus.
