Decided its better to put everything together so i don't make tons of new threads for all the custom mods that will be happening with the car and updates. 2015 things will move fast
speedracervroom wrote:Hello Everyone!

So a little background on this project. A year ago I had come across a M56 Aero front bumper on Craigslist. I didn't see these bumpers often so I had a idea to buy it and figure away to fit it on my M35. Months passed while I photoshop tons of ideas of what it would look like and what I would keep from the Aero bumper. Finally I found a good deal on a donor M35 front bumper cheap enough to justify cutting it up. Both these bumpers sat in storage waiting to get started on. Month after month the project was pushed back. Got to the point to ask some shops if they wanted to tackle it all on their own, most shops declined because of the amount of work that would have to be done. Year later I finally got all parts and equipment needed to merge these bumpers together the right way. I started my first cut on the Aero bumper going back and forth to keep the y51 front grill or not. After a month looking at how it looked I decided to use the 08 grill because the y51 didn't look to good with our headlights. So more cutting went on after I got everything merged together I took the project to a friends shop JTran Motorsports here in Houston to finish up the body work and paint. They did a fantastic job making my idea come to life.

I do have photos of every step of the process but I won't release them yet. Sorry I would like to rock this look for a bit before everyone throws every dime to acquire this look.

Photo of when I was thinking of keeping the y51 grill

Enjoy the finished product!

Finally found these XB Led fogs and have heard nothing but good things about. They fit perfect just have to make a bracket. Wires are plug and play. The cut offs are amazing and super bright (brighter then HIDS ) here is a pic of them installed. Just wanted to give the Y51 guys another option that works for the car.

Quick update.

Finally installed my Akebono Brakes. Was was going with chrome but changed my mind and went with Honda Inca Pearl (pretty close to Brembo Gold)

I bought the paint at Oreillys where they custom mixed the color in a aerosol can.

Image

Painted color kinda shifts due to the pearl.

Image

Calipers put back together and Pads installed (gold looks different with the shop lights)

Image

Installed with Adamsrotors AR Track edition

Image

End Photo with Wheels back on.

Image

Close up

Image

Next thing will be to add the Akebono Decals. I have Decided to go with this 2 tone color.

I absolutely drool over this car.

The newest iteration is my favorite - the grey wheels are so damn spot-on.

I can only see 2 things I'd do to it (and they're personal preference only): I'd lose the Mt. Fuji and M35S emblems, and paint the reverse light part of the rear light assembly body color.

Kinda like this (left light edited):

so AZhitman got me thinking with this photoshop. i decided to try it out i am also doing some custom led work and won't need the blinker. here is the result. Also blacked out the chrome inside of the taillight. feedback is welcomed.

Image

also i won't be using circle reflectors inside the taillight.

Eh. I've never been a fan of 'eye lids' on the front of the car that some folks do and not really digging this. I think the rear end on the Y50 is one of the best looking ones around...and a big part of that is the tail light. I like the dual rings, the size of them, the size of the rear body in general, etc.

I think yours is perfect as it...but you're probably doing shows and stuff so creativity/customization is probably very import.

I'm assuming your mod to the rear lens will include some sort of turn indicator in the red section? I have to say that painting the turn indicator looks brilliant! It makes the rear look more aggressive and sporty. I would, however, tint the reflective trunk piece (with the reverse light) so it matches the brake light section.

I would paint the red reflector piece on the trunk around the reverse light to match color same as you did for the turn signal. That piece does not light up anyways.
