I own an '89 and my analog speedometer (it also has a digital one, but it doesn't work) twitches and maxes out, where it stays for a while. While my seedometer isn't working my odometer and cruise contol don't work either. I have no idea what is wrong, if anyone could send me in the right direction I would apprectiate it.

what im going to do is assume you mean that your speedo works occasionally, then drops to zero, twitches, shoots up to max, twitches, drops to zero, ect ect...

in that case, it is the vehicle speed sensor. its located on the transmission. that is the easiest fix. if that doesnt work, the cluster needs to be replaced.

I'm not completely sure but I don't think you can't actually fix the speedo sensor. You probably need to replace it with another one. It is located on the transmission, towards the back where the drive shaft comes out, on the passenger side and more towards the top. If you can get at it you should be able to pull it out and replace the whole thing.

If anyone has pics of this being done it would probably be a lot easier to see.

I believe the speed sensor is on the right rear of your transmission and is held in with a bolt and clip mechanism . The bolt also has a phillips head in it so if you can't unbolt it you can use an impact screwdriver to remove it. It is also the little thing with the two wires leading to it. Hope that helps.
