My speedo is still not working, but everything else like my tach, etc works. My dad's mechanic told me it is the speed sensor and it is gone bad.I went to the Nissan dealership and it will costs me $120. Someone else on NICO told me it could be the wiring behind the speedo. But has anyone else encountered this same problem or can anyone tell me what exactly it is.

Do you have Heads Up Display or an analog gauge cluster?

the thread you read is likely correct as when the speedo dies on nissans, 90% of the time is the speedometer assembly itself rather then the revolution sensor in the trans that feeds the speedo.

Did it just stop working, or never worked? Before you go buying parts, you might want to check your connections... Somehow in the process of my car being jacked up/down(wasn't drivable), and rolled around, my one connector came lose at the rear of the instrument panel... It was the harness-to-harness connection, not the back of the panel. It also took out the gauge backlight(ones that light so you can see the tach/speedo markings), so that's a tell-tale sign. Also check under the car, where the speed sensor cable hooks into the engine room harness, it's only a 1/2" square connector.

Your mechanic may have tried these things first, but it doesn't hurt to check yourself.

Well when my dad bought the car for me, he told me it wasnt working. I took to his mechanic and he told me it was the speed sensor that has gone bad, but he didnt seem like he knew for sure. But ima open up the cluster and see if the wiring has come loose or become faulty. If not I will have to buy a new cluster
