speedometer sensor question

iv got an s14 kouki with a redtop sr in it. does it mater what ka speedometer sensor i use or does it have to be s14 to work with my cluster? just making shore befor i buy this one because its for an s13 dohc ka. yes i did search and didnt find my answer, i have the flu so if i missed it bfd.

im in the same boat. i have a jdm cluster, but i have a kae speed sensor will that work? everything works except my speedometer and the thing where it shows you how much your traveling.

no, the cluster your using needs to be the same as the sensor, sr-jdm, ka-usdm. i just dont know if the years make a difference

There is a difference between KA24E clusters and KA24DE clusters. If you have a 90 car then get a 91 up cluster.

S14 clusters need S14 speed sensors. 1997-1998 S13 clusters also need S14 sensors.

S13 SR and KA speed sensors are the same. The part numbers are the same. The gears are what is different on the speed sensors, one has one more notch than the other so this accounts for the very slight speed difference between the JDM and USDM sensors.

wouldnt the car be running on km/ph?? i stuck my sohc speedometer on the cluster.

No, the speed sensor does not convert the speed to kmh or mph, that is what the actual gauge in the gauge cluster does. The speed sensor just measures the number of rotations of the rear wheels.
