Speedometer Resetting/Blinking on 89 240SX

I have an 89 240SX and just recently the digital speedometer began to "reset" when driving. Every 5 to 10 minutes the speedometer will blink off and will come back on almost immediately initially reading 0mph and then within a second reports the correcet speed--e.g., 70mph. The HUD follows the speedo.

Everything seems to be working okay...the panel lights work and dim, etc.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced something similiar and what the fix might be.
