Speedometer question

I have a S14 with an S13 SR20DET Redtop. My S14 was an automatic which I converted over to a manual. Since day one I have had a problem wiht my speedometer reading incorrectly. I first used the S13 speed sensor and my speedometer ready twice as fast. So I switched to an S14 speed sensor and my speedometer reads twice as slow. I don't know what my problem is but I think it might be wiring of some sort or something to do with the automatic to manual swap. Can anyone help??
