Today on my way to work there was an accident in the area where I merge onto the highway. After passing the accident traffic cleared up conciderably and and I was able to speed up. As I was accelerating my car jerked slightly, I have a CVT so it's unusual for this to happen. I thought that it was odd and I looked down at my dash and my speedometer was at 0 though I was probably going about 50. I pulled off to the shoulder turned off my car and turned it back on and the problem was gone. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this or something similar with their Versa. If you have experienced it, is it a recurring problem or did it just happen once?

Some folks (including myself) have experienced weirdness after a hard stop. Did you have to brake hard to avoid the accident?

In my case, I didn't experience the speedometer problems, but did get the jerkiness you mentioned.

No, no hard breaking was involved. The accident was right past where I merge on to the highway and police and fire and all were already there, so traffic was moving really slowly merging on and then past the accident. Once I passed it traffic was free flowing and while excellerating is when they jerking happened...

My guess is there could of been a lose wire going to the speedo? That's something I never heard of before either. When you bring it into the dealer next time bring it to their attention.

something similar happened to me in a Dodge Caliber, was at a light, took off, car jerked and sounded like it was about to die...... but still moved forward.......pulled into a gas station, and restarted the car, and all was fine.........

according to the manual it was the drive-by wire acting up, it didnt happened again during that trip, it was a rental, and we drove around 1,000 miles on it.......

The thing is there were not other symptoms, the car jerked slightly, it may have been mistaken for shifting in an automatic, and then the speedometer wasn't working, no weird sounds or anything. But everything was fine on the way home yesterday and the way into work today. Hopefully it won't happen again and it will just be a one time mystery...
