the HUD's are known to go bad. could be a capacitator in it. my SE came with one not working so i just swaped it for an analog cluster. if you decide to swap make sure you get the harness for it also. is it a SOHC or DOHC cluster?this might helphttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=158878

ok to swap a digital cluster with an analog as long as I include a harness? Having big probs with diagnosing the prob. Have gotten a replacement cluster that is said to be good...... oh well? Would love to fix the digital one, but I really just need a speedo!

yup, you can swap them out just as long as you have the harness to go with it since the wiring is different(plugs in the back of the cluster). there is a way to fix the digital one. there was a write up on how to check and DIY

I tried the "capacitor" test with the sold. iron.... with no luck on both the original cluster and the new/used one I purchased. I had high hopes, but no luck......... I don't have any dash lights either, and odometer doesn't have power.

I did check the fuses, all ok. I don't have power to anything on the left side of the cluster......... lights and tach on right side working ok. I'm wondering if there is a power issue to cluster. tested a couple of misc wires for power that go into hud unit and they have power, but don't know if there are others that should have power and don't?
