Speedometer/Odometer Probs

My speedometer sometimes works and sometimes doesnt...

My odometer doesnt work most of the time...

Does this problem happen to alot of 240s? and is it easily fixable?

look at the 240sx.org FAQ's. could probably be a speedsensor, but look there first, might solve your problem.

and dont forget to SEARCH !!! someone just asked this last week

i've already searched and couldnt find anything specific enough to help me out...if the odometer works mostof the time and the speedo has only worked once for bout 3mos. and it always says 90mph and is on the wrong side of the gauge when the cars off then what would be my prob.??its driving me crazy and i cant judge how fast im going all the tyme by my rpms!!any sugg. would be helpful

yeah mines messed up too..when u turn off ur car is the speedos needle on the wrng side??mine is...what'dya gonna do uhh?..i just leave it alone now...forget about it im done tryin to fix it

mine does that too. i tried replacing the gauge cluster, and the speed sensor and it still didn't work. i'm starting to think it may be something with the ecu. post an update if you fix it though!

suttin w/ the ecu?!?!noooo!!!damn..i didnt even go that far to replce the cluster or speed sensors...i got so fa in taking the cluster off then had a snag and put it all back together PITA!!well somebody told me it could be the lil gear on the speedo itself that moves it or suttin..like the gear is loose on the shaft and needs to be suprglued ....i have no idea how all that works and thats part of the reason i had to put it all back together...other reason is cuz i had to work....sumunabutch...if u know what your doing and get the tme to find out it really is JUST the gear..lemme know cuzza it sucks not knowin how fast ur goin when ur smokin riced out civics.
