Speedometer not working

I recently bought a 95 s14 with a red top sr20. My speedometer doesn’t work but I have a speed sensor and the cluster is plugged in. Do I need to just swap in a s14 sensor or is my cluster broken?

I would think the sensor should work either way, but it would definitely be best to try a different sensor, or pull the cluster and try to activate the speedo manually on a bench to test its function. Most are getting crusty and need the solder joints re-done at this point.

When I bought my s14 with the sr20 redtop swap my speedo would read 0 mph until I reached 60 mph then the needle would jump up to 80 mph lol.. Everything else worked just fine but I found a deal on a new cluster for like $150 and now it works just fine lol
