speedometer not working

I have a 91 b13 automatic.the guy that sold it to me said he just got a new tranny put in,but the guy put a diferent year transmission so the spedo plugs didnt fit together.

Can someone elaborate on this?Is there some splicing i can do to make it work?Any suggestions?

I believe the B13's use a mechanical pickup, and the B14's use an ifrared pickup. If he put in a tranny from a B14 then the speedo pickups will be different. I don't know what to tell ya. You may possibly be able to replace the actual pickup on the tranny with a B13 one, but I'm not really sure.

It would help me out alot if i could figure out which tranny he put in but, the guy has no clue....

any way to look and determine which year?

I havent looked at the tranny yet but my brother said he didn't see any wires w/ plugs ??????

could be from a b14 huh?

What engine do you have? SR20DE or GA16DE? I'll find some more info for you.

if you still have the old speedo pick up out of the old trans count the teeth on the gear. take the one out of your new trans and count the teeth on it if they match and they bolt up the same way you can use it .

if they do not have the same teeth on the gears but they both bolt up the same. inspect the shaft the gear is mounted on if the are the same type of shaft and the same length swap the gear from your new one to the old sensor and install your new sensor with the old gear in the new trans.

if they dont bolt up the same your pretty much stuck with out a speedo
