I installed a HKS Type-1 Turbo Timer with harness. I wired + soldered the RPM wire from the unit to the ECU, and it read fine and worked on the cluster. Then I was unsure about the speedo wire, so I didn't solder that to the ECU; I just wrapped it and tried it. It didn't work on the TT unit or the cluster. So it was removed, the ecu wire was wrapped up, and the speedo still didn't read. I removed the cluster today, unplugged it all and reconnected it, screwed the cluster in and tried it. Still no luck. FYI, this is a USDM timer on a JDM cluster. I also noticed 2 scratches on the circuitboard dealy thing on the back of my cluster around the speedo. I saw a couple other clusters with scratches in the same place, so I'm not too focused on that.

As it sits, the speedo wire on the timer is ungrounded. The column is currently hanging, NOT DROPPED completely, but hanging (dash install). Does anything need to be grounded? Maybe the column bolts need to be in, for some odd reason? The speedo worked fine before this, and I don't see why it would be the transmission speed sensor.

I posted this in the 240 Tech section, but got minimal response. So I decided to wing it up here too.

I cleaned the plugs and such with contact cleaner and am awaiting my instrument cluster bezel to arrive. I'm hoping when I get all the switches plugged back in, and get the column back up and bolted in, the speedo will start working.

Like I mentioned.. anyone know if having the bezel switches hooked up, and the column raised back up has anything to do with the speedo? Like, some kind of ground or something?
