im having this same problem, i had to drop the transmission for a new clutch in my nissan truck. I unscrewed the speedo cable from the transmission and i had to cut the 2 wires because the clip was stuck. I reatached everything and no speedo. Is there a fuse for the speedo?

Im having the same problem as this guy did back in 08, i swapped motors and ran in to trouble when dropping the transmission because i couldn't get the clip to come apart, so i cut the Green and black wires then saudered them back but the speedometer/ rpm meter/ gas/ and temp dont work.

need help

You need the speed sensor from the same year same model. There is another chart somewhere to matching up what years work, but this is the simplest way to explain it.

How come you didn't search? This has been covered a million times before.

i used the original harness all that changed was the the engine block. i cut the green and black wire because the plactic clip was going to break if i forced it apart so i cut it instead then i reconnected them but its not working. the harness and speed senor cant tell the difference in motors if you use the original parts. so no i didnt find anything in the search besides this a-hole above me who didn't post what fixed his same problem

OK WAIT! i know how to read a pdf manual, i know that this diagram says where all electrical corespond to each other, but all i did was cut the speed sensor wire( essentially two wires in a plastic case, being one green and one black) and then reconnect them sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooowhy does it not work now, i dont need to re-map my whole wiring harness.

Have you actually gone under the car and checked it out or are you just being crazy?

Check it again to make sure then replace the speed sensor if everything looks fine.

I would check the block over and over as well to make sure there isn't some kind of engine ground that you forgot to connect.

Crazy YES , stupid NO

My question is does the speed sensor and wiring controll all other functions on the gauges like rev, gas, temp, etc.

I didn't notice the problem untill I took out my fuel pump for inspection, I was wondering if that caused it or if I just didn't notice it yet. Because I put EVERYTHING back the way it was. I will look into it more thoroughly with voltmeter and some new parts And as for the engine ground ,that COULD be the problem. All engine grounds are connected but I noticed when I touch the distributer when its running I become THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTENCE and that does mean bad ground.
