Alright since I already know im not getting any answers in the tech forms....

My car's speed gauge hasn't been working for at least 4 or 5 years now. My dad was to lazy to look into it so I guess I have to. Everything else on the gauge cluster works just fine. The funny thing about the speedometer is that it works every now an then and when it does its usually after the car has been running for a while. I removed the speed sensor from the transmission and it seems to work just fine so im pretty sure its not that. I'm really not sure what it is at this point :gotme .. Any ideas? Is this problem common?

Then why the hell ask what the problem is? Maybe that is the issue, genius. Did you think about that? Quit wasting our time.

Its not exactly that I'm to cheap to buy another.. I'm just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what it could be... Because what happens when I buy a new cluster and have the same problem?

Ya, I've replaced my cluster too and my speed sensor seemed fine as well. I've come to the conclusion it's probably the gear in the transmission, idk.

I've learned to live with it.

No need to replace the entire cluster. I've had 2 S13 speedos die on me and I only replaced the the speedometer part of the cluster. Hit up ebay or the NICO classifieds and find a spare cluster... they aren't expensive usually... remove yours and pop it open, swap the speedos (it's very easy to do) and your problem will be fixed. I've covered this before in a previous post...
Your problem lies in the Speedometer, not the sensor. I've had this happen in 2 of the 4 S13s I've owned(including the odometer acting up). It's not very difficult to replace the speedo gauge. Just be sure when you remove it you don't mess with needle... It's easy to mess up its calibration. I've also replaced my speed sensor which did nothing to fix this problem...

Currently I have a 180MPH Speedo made by LSautomotive. Works great! But expensive...

Just took a quick look at ebay... plenty of them on there.
