Hello,

I just finished installing a s13 blacktop sr20det into my s13 I purchased the full wiring kit to install and it helped alot, but i have a problem. My sppedometer is not working i checked all the plugs and all are nice and tight i even swapped out the sr speed sensor with my old KA sensor and it still does not work.

My RPM, Fuel, Temp and all the console lights work, just no speedometer. I need help I searched the forums and and none of the older suggestions seem to have worked, the only thing i have tried so far is switching out the console but since everything else works and i dont have any spare cash left to get one try thats out of the question for right now.

I know nothing about this thing, but supposedly the TCU (If I remember the name correctly) can cause this issue. It's the little white box on the driver's side fuse panel. You can get them from junkyards for $5. Worth a shot.

The TCU doesn't play into the speedo working or not. It should be a straight shot from the speed sensor to the dash cluster. I would double check the continuity of the circuit.

Interesting.. I remember reading a thread a while back, citing it as the culprit. Ok, though.

I'll take a look at the TCU diagrams, but if you look on EL-43, the circuit goes straight from the speed sensor to the cluster, then the cluster relays the speed to the ECU. Double checking the TCU diagrams, there's no reference to the VSS. It does affect the illumination, which would affect the speedo itself, but only in regards to lighting.

thanks, so i can run a pair of wires from the sensor straight to the console to see if there is a short in the line?

Do you know what color wires i need to attach to on the console off hand?

thanks for the help

Yellow/Blue and Yellow/Black all the way from the sensor to the cluster.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify that. Much appreciated.

the ka sensor was on a green wire and a black wire,

the wiring kit uses the two yellow wires, will it still be yellow behind the cluster?

I checked the fuse box at the engine and there are neither set of matching color sets, so i am really stumped now. I will try and run lines straight from the sensor to the cluster when i can get some time out of the office.

thanks for the help we think we have discovered the issue, it seems that my hatch is wired differently at the fuse box and uses a 4plug for speedo and alternator, oil pressuer instead of the normal 8 plug.

I am going to rewire this section tonight and see how it goes.
