speedometer correction when DOWNsizing tires

I have a 94 pathy that is stock on 31s. I want to go down to the regular stock size of 235/75/15.I do know that the VSS is different, is that the only difference though?Can I just swap out the VSS and my speedometer will read right?thanks in advanceBrian

I am confused. Is the stock tire size 31" or 237/75? If someone before you put 31's on, they probably never made the change so your current reading is off and will be corrected when you put the correct size tires on.

I am only asking because I have purchased three vehicles with bigger tires and in all three cases, no one re-programmed the ECM or replaced the speedo gear.

The factory offered both tire sizes.Mine came from the factory on 31s

I was thinking of putting the 235s on. it's a moot point for me now as I am picking up some 31s in a little while for "cheap".
