Okay, so I have an 89 240 ka24e. Last week my speedometer stopped working properly. It just slowly creeps up from the time I start it and takes about 10 mins to get up to 80 mph then just hangs there until I shut the car off. Then a couple days later my driver side seat belt stopped working (again, had this issue a couple years ago and it fixed itself haha). I checked all of the wiring for the seat belt under the center counsel and inside of the trim of the door and everything appears to be okay. I also checked the fuses in the kick panel and they're also okay. My question would be can this be related or just good old 240 coincidence...?

The next time the seat belt decides to work I'm just literally pulling the plug on it so it stay in the seated position but I don't really want to do that. As far as the speedometer I was going to order a new speed sensor but wanted a couple opinions before I did, Thanks.

Keen240sx: I am new here on the forum with a gift of my friend's 1991 240sx SE Hatchback. When reading the owner's manual, I noticed that the "automatic" seatbelts in these early years are covered for life! I called my local Nissan dealer yesterday (same place my friend bought it from 22 years ago) and the service manager confirmed that Nissan will repair/replace the seatbelts and their motors forever- all under warranty. Nissan pays 100%

Yes, I read the owner's manual.....

These automatic seatbelts were only in use for I think 3 or 4 years. Automakers made a deal with the US government to either install airbags or "passive restraints". These automatic seatbelts were cheaper back then, so Nissan, Mazda, etc. put them in.

Please, please, DO NOT ignore a seat belt issue. They have saved my life twice now and someday may save yours.

Report back....Let us know what it was/what you did to fix it and good luck.
