Ever since i got my car the speedo has been 5 mph faster then my actual speed below 60 mph. when im on the highway (65 and faster) it increases to 10mph off. Its almost like its calibrated incorrectly, is there any way to adjust it? Or could it be my speed sensor in the transmission?

originally i thought its because i had slightly smaller tire diameter (15inch 195/60) then the sport packaged cars, so i thought they just had it calibrated for those folks from the factory. but after getting 15 inch 205/60's it didnt seem to even effect it. (not that big of a difference i know)

Odometer used to stick because the car didnt want to get old, but after hitting the 100k mark it never sticks. I dont know if its related but i guess its worth mentioning, not that i can blame the car for tryin to stay young.

The fact that it is consitantly wrong. My guess would be the tire size being smaller then factory set up. look at your tire size and air pressure label in the door jam or center consle(not sure where they stuck it on your car) do your tires match whats on the label? unless you have done a trans swap then you need to consider what it was in before and its tire sizes.

If it were inconsistanly wrong I would say your speedo is acting up. Although your odo problem does bring up an issue and does indicate a speedo problem. I dont think its the unit in the trans cause that would slip if it where the problem. There is no physical way for it to turn faster then the output shaft is turning it. If you find your tire sizes are a perfect match I would say its time for a new speedo.

There are select few places that can calibrate speedo's but they are usually located in major metro areas and typically there is only one since it is not a main stream type of buisness. we have a place in sac that handles it. We remove the unit from the car and send it to them for calibration.
