Yep...they both coincide with each other...my suspension is pretty bad. My guess is something might be getting pinched.

Just odd as the two aren't connected at all. :gotme
Do you hear any noise when the steering gets stiff??
Like the PS pump straining ?

No it doesn't. And I know what you mean. I've owned plenty fords too lol. Its just random. As soon as the speedo kicks back in, the steering is smooth as butter again. If nobody else knows, ill take my front end apart and let everyone know what it was.

On the Q45 when the power steering and the speedo go out at the same time it's the speed sensor. I'm not sure where it's located on the J30.

A friend's Acura NSX had issues with both the steering and speedo at the same time. It turned out to be the alternator. The NSX had electric steering. This probably doesn't apply to the power steering driven J, unless the alternator periodically shorts-out stiffening the steering wheel and affect the speedo? Do experience a loss of power when this happens?

I'm not sure what power steering and the speedo have in common but it happens a lot with the older Q45's.

I would make sense if the J has speed sensitive steering.
Anybody know if it does ??
As in more steer at stop/slow and less at speed ?

Super HICAS (High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering) system found on the Q45. The system used a precise, computer-controlled hydraulic rear steering unit on the rear wheels. At high speeds, the rear wheels were steered up to one degree in the same direction as the fronts. At low speeds, the system would momentarily turn the wheels opposite the fronts (to help point the J30t into the turn) before turning them in-phase. The sporty J30t also received revised spring calibrations, new alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler.

ive had issues with both but was 2 completely different things. ive had the speed sensor go out on my car completely and it did not alter the steering. my odometer stayed at 162,562 for about a month and a half before i did the car swap.

i found that my steering was getting stiffer because the plug for the sensor on the high pressure line for the ps was dirty. i cleaned both connectors out with electronic cleaner and my steering returned to normal.

I know if you go on you tube and look up the original j30 advertisement, it says it comes with speed sensitive steering
