speedo question

i have factory hud in my car, ive been driving around with it not working since my 5 speed swap which was quite some time ago. is there a difference in the speedo sensors between a hud and analog speedometer. i have the transmission from a non hud in right now and i have a transmission from a car with hud incase i need to swap the speedo sensor. my speedo lights up at 0, on my other car it was just blank so thats a start. i just need to know if there is any difference before i try to swap the sensor out.
