Hey, Welcome to Nico!

First off, the shops here in El Paso don't know anything about the Sr20. I'm guessing the brown plug (located above glove box and ECU) may be wired wrong. Check your start signal / ignition wire (orange). Make sure it's soldered Ka orange to Sr orange. Check Tach signal wiring, Ka yellow/red to Sr yellow/red. I have a 1991 s13. So the wiring should be the same as your 1990.What type of instrument cluster do you have? Digital or analog? Digital ones often go bad, such as mine. The vss can be checked using a FSM.If you need help, do not hesitate to contact me. I live in central, close to Austin High.G/L

Btw, post pics of your ride and introduce yourself to others on this forum.

i had the same problem and the funny thing was my Tach sensor was burnt out in my ECU so if you have any buddies with SR ECUs ...try and borrow theirs and see if it changes anything

i'll try to get pics up a.s.a.p. the wireing looks fine, but i will get it looked at. my cluster is not digital, sometimes mph will shoot on and off whenever it pleases. i was told today that i might need a speed sensor from a 91-94 180sx. does that mean i might also have to get the cluster from 180sx? also heard just need to change speedos from 180sx. thanks for the help

You don't need a speedo from a 180sx. You can use the speedo (same cluster, analog) off an s13 91-94, like I did. It works fine. There is no instant chat or IM, you can just email.Lmk if you need help. Contact me @: [email protected].

If you're using the S13 cluster, analog or digital, you can use the S13 usdm vss with the Sr20 transmission.

No, not at all. The only problem I had was a faulty Maf. After replacing it, my SRstarted and ran smoothly ever since. Starts up every time.

Try to use the old vss that was on the KA. If it doesn't work, get a vss from a 91-94 s13 usdm 240. You can use the vss from the SR, but it'll be in kph. The readings from the speedo will be off by 10 or so mph..

The cluster you have is fine. My 240 is a 91, and I'm using a 90 cluster. I'm also using the same vss from my old KA transmission on the SR.
