hi all.iv been running about with out no speedo for abit because i couldnt get the rb25 speedo sender to work with the s13 speedo reciver (clocks). i bought a unit to convert the ppm so that they work with one-another but im not sure which wires i need to connect it to? what colour are the speedo wires at the back of the cluster and at the ecu?

could anyone help?

thank youben

what is this converter unit you purchased?

my rb25 speed sensor works perfectly fine in my s14 cluster. you don't need any special hardware to get the speedo to work. the speed sensor is just a rotational sensor on the output shaft, and it has no idea how many cylinders you have or mph/kmh. the conversion is done by the cluster itself.

correct me if i'm wrong, but the s13 should be the same.

oh right i got told that they dont work to gether unless the s14 and s13 clocks are different which i cant see being the case...

this is the unit i have.http://www.dakotadigital.com/i...6.htm

what colour are the wires at the back of the cluster which control the speedo?

thankyou ben

my speedo read about half of my actual speed w/ the stock s13 cluster. i'm running the cluster that came with my clip now.

thats interesting to note. maybe the converter unit is necessary for s13s b/c it is expecting a differernt ppm.

gtrben: i don't know what color the wire is, my dash cluster has never been removed. i need to pull it soon to calibrate the tach though. again, can't speak for s13's, but on the 14 the speedo "input" is on the F3 plug, near the passenger side kick panel. makes it very easy to send your new speed signal. i would find that connector further downstream and input your speed signal there, instead of connecting it directly to the cluster.

hmm ya that does sound like the best idea. atleast if i have to calibrate i dont need to take all my cluster out again. the only question is what colour is the signal wire to the cluster from the F3 plug.

http://www.lsauto.com/ has a tach and speed for the s13 that fit the stock cluster and are made to work with the rb

wow I wish I would have found those conversion speedos and tachometers before I bought my SGI 5. If know one knows what color the signal wire is, then is there any way to take out the gauge cluster and test random wires using a 9 volt to make the speedo jump or something, or will it not work unless it recieves pulses.
