Hi everyone,

I noticed that according to my Garmin GPS, the speedo seems to be +-5km fast. Say I am going 115, the GPS says 110.

I have tested this in other cars and usually both are in agreement within 1-2km/h.

Anyone else seen this? Should I mention it next time I take it in for maintenance?

Thanks

M.

Nope, it's pretty normal.

Both my '03 Altima and Rogue read about 5km/h too fast. Some of this could be due to GPS error but it's more likely Nissan has erred on the side if caution with thier speedo calibration.

my garmin reads 2MPH slower than the rogue speedo, Since the rogue gauges are hard for me to see I use my GPS for the speed...

I thought it was maybe fast too. Good to know it's not just me.

Wouldn't this make the mileage accumulate faster, ultimately causing your warranty to expire faster?

The odometer seems to be fairly accurate. It's similar to the GPS reading, but even the GPS is not 100% accurate.

Lol, I thought this thread was going to be about Michael Phelps...woops.

Either way - OP, have you changed tires yet? Did you get the same brand/size? By switching sizes or brands, your wheel diamater changes, thereby changing your speedometer reading.

Not sure if you did, but it's also a possibility.

When I swapped the OEM tires on my '03 Alty for some 245/45R17, I found the speedo error increased... and likely the odometer too. It was something like 2-3%.
