speedo not working

I have a 89 240sx with stock engine and auto transmission. The issue i have is my speedo does not work. Sometimes i hit the cluster and it will work for little bit than stops or it will work by itself and soon after stops working. Do you guys have and ideas on how to fix it ??

Replace the cluster.

Could be a loose screw on the speedo. Pull the cluster out and double check the three screws that mount the speedo to the cluster are tight. I doubt it's the harness plug as those guys are normally really tight when they plug in.

anything else i should look at when i have the cluster off ??

Clusterwise, make sure that the plastic on the back isn't all jacked up as it's the primary contact and pathway for the signals
