Hey can anyone offer some help...? I have a 1990 240sx , I recently changed motors and transmission with another ka24e setup with have the mileage as before. The problem is that now the speedo does not work. I tried 3 different clusters but nothing worked I changed the sender on the transmission with the old sender on the other transmission ...nothing works. I will need this fixed asap do to inspection coming up soon. Any ideas please tell me. Is there another sensor I over looked? Or maybe something besides the sender in the transmission screwed?

Hello,

Ohhhh.......shoot. I just saw that you tried several different gauge clusters. I was about to say that you might want to check that all of the various grounding screws are screwed in tight on the back of the cluster itself.......that ended up being the problem with my unit when I converted from digital to analog.

It sounds like you're almost there by ruling out the possibility of the gauge clusters being faulty. How about the actual gauge cluster harness? Are there frayed wires on it?

I don't mind not having the speedo, but it kinda sucks if you're leading the pack and have to slow down for a cop. Not sure if its required for inspection in PA either. Heck I bought a jdm cluster, thought it was cool (180kg) but that didn't work either.

check the wiring and the plugs for corrosion. check all the ground wires.I think there is a voltage regulator module that can go bad but im not sure if its attached to the cluster or not.

did you make sure the sensor's in working shape? There might also be crap on the inside of the plug, or possibly when you changed clusters you may have accidentally caused a loose connection behind the dash to come out.

oh yeah, arent there ring gear inside the transmission that are read by the sensor? I have no idea if these can fall out or not but its something to check.

This ring gear idea might be worth checkin into...I didn't know the condition of this transmission when i put it in. It was from a wrecked 240 as well as the motor.
