Speedo not working in 95 D21 4x4?

i have a 95 4x4 hardbody v6 xe.... i was going down the highway using my cruise control and my speedo went to zero and my cruise light started blinking... no check engine lights came on truck still had power and went down the road... just with no speedo odometer or cruise... possibly another 30 miles later the check engine light came on... im suspecting a speed sensor? i just want some insight to see if anyone else has ran into this problem and could offer and help! i plan on getting it read tomorrow hopefully! but any input would be great!! thanks!

A lot of Hardbodies had speedo clusters that failed.
