The speed signal is independent of the motor swap, if your speedo worked before the swap it should work now.

As far as the breaking up, it could be an ignitor. Get one from a j30 or z32. But get the pigtails for both connectors as well, there's a little rewiring but its really easy.

When my ignitor went bad it was a very strange problem. At WOT I could get to mid 4K. Then it started to backfire unless I let off the gas, say 90% of wot, then i could get to the 5Ks, then less throttle would get me to 6K's and even less would get me close to redline.

Also the smoother I was with the throttle and the higher gear I was in I could go higher rpms easier.

You also might have a boost leak too. Have you ever checked for any?

ok did a leak test ... none, well also the more advanced i set the timing the more rpms it takes to start breaking up o.o

ok timing is now 15* , no boost leaks , speedo turned out to be a loose wirebut it still runs like crap, im starting to think plug gape might be an issue , any other ideas?? ill check the gape tomorrow.

Mines a similar problem. My TPS is all screwy. Might be worth checking. Check the voltage when the engine is off, running, and after the fans kick on. Mine fluctuates like hell.

tps checked out , but heres a new clue. white smoke when its breaking up, now just a reminder i can adjust the timing to make it break up in the higher rpms or the lower .. so any guesses ?

ps. compressions good, no coolant in the oil and up until it hits that wall it runs perfect , no misses , no smoke.
