Speedo is very jumpy. Sometimes it shows the speed relatively accurately, other times it jumps from 20 to 110 to 50 and all around, wiggling very fast and such. Anyone experience these kinds of issues before? How can I fix it/get it fixed? Where could the problem lye? Thanks in advance.

The trip odometer and milage gauge seem to be malfuctioning aswell. I really hope replacing the gauge cluster will fix this **** :pface

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Doubt it, you should first check the vehicle speed sensor located on the transmission itself. More than likely you have some stripped/missing gear teeth.

Might be the Speedometer cable.Don't know if 240's have Speedo cables though.

No, 240s do not have speedo cables.

JNM240, be more specific please :pface What do you doubt exactly, and how would I go about checking the speed sensor and/or gear teeth?

some companies make it so that the speed your going is higher then your actuall speed. for instance, say speed limit is 45 and your speedo says your going 45, but in reality the car is only going say, 42. companies do this to make your warranty run out faster, ya kno, warrenties that are up to 3 years or 100,000 miles, whichever come first..... i read that somewhere else on this forum, dont member where tho

I said that i doubt replacing the entire gauge cluster would solve his problem. If he has a bad speed sensor then the new gauge cluster would do the exact same thing and he would have spent money needlessly. Check the speed sensor first. IIRC it is on the left side of the transmission, held in place with 2 10mm bolts. Obviously you will want to be under the car to see this. Remove the bolts, pull it out and you will see that it is a plastic 'gear' that meshes with the final drive. If there are teeth missing or it is stripped, you have found your problem.

Now as to the speedo saying you are going 80 and you are actually travelling 75, tell me what size tire you have. If you are rolling on the bling bling then the aftermarket tire size might not be exactly the same diameter as the OE tire size, lending to the speedo being off a few mph.
