hello people,

i have a 1995 q45 and the idiots at best buy connected the speed input wire of my navi system to the tach. needless to say gps was saying i was moving when i was at a stoplight.

anyways i've already disconnected it, but i wish to connect it to the correct wire @ the ecu. i've been following the schematics in the fsm, but can't seem to trace the speedo input after it leaves the instrument cluster.

i know i can get speedo input @ the instrument cluster, but i'd rather not have to remove the cluster.

so does anybody know which number and/or color wire is speedo @ the ecu?

thanks

The speed sensor on transmission feeds an IC on the rear of speedometer that translates speed to 0>5volts that feeds PS, TCU, and ECU.

If your NAV needs pulses you will have to tap the line from speed sensor before Speedometer.................the tach display works the same 0>5 volts.

#53 vs #7 for voltage fully detailed in FSM.

So the speedo input and the tach recieves the same data. The reason i thought it was incorrect was because the input @ the ecu was receiving signals when the car was stationary. when i revved the engine, the pulses went up. so i determined that it was the tach stupid best buy connected to wire to.

i'll just get it from the harness at the speedometer. i was at least able to trace that from the schematics.

thanks.

They don't receive the same data, the just use the same range of voltages to drive displays and other circuits.
