The other day when I was fixing my car stereo I touched a few wires together on accident and now my speedo and tach aren't lighting up anymore. I checked all the fuses and checked to see if anything was grounding out by the deck and nothing. I also was reading some past posts and said something about a little white box by the fuse box and I opened it up and looked at all the little resistors and they all looked good. As of this point I am clueless. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah it is just the speedo and tach except....I noticed today that the clock is lit up until I turn on the Head lights then it goes off. The cluster is analog. the guages themselfs work fine.

if your heater control lights were out along with other lights in your cluster and what you say about your clock it sounds like your dimmer control got fried.

new from nissan old from wreaker. I have seen some threads here in the past that have discussed repairing a burnt dimmer switch. something to do with its internal bulb but I have never done it myself. in my line of work we sell the part and let nissan hold the liability so the opertunity has never presented itself to me to try it. company policy bs.

HHHMMMMM, So, Do you think it is something that I would have to go to nissan to fix??? If so, I might just deal with it for a while.

no you could buy the part over the counter and install it your self. if you had your dash appart to do the radio . you could certainly pop the switch out and disconnect the one connector and install the new one

Now, when you say "switch" you are just talking about the thing on the left of the steering wheel right. I am just making sure we are on the same page. If we are not then could you tell me where it is

alright, I am going to check out some junk yards for it. If all else fails I guess I will go to nissan. BTW I went to Nissan today and asked about it and the guy didn't have a CLUE. The best he could come up with was to get a new cluster. And if it is just the switch I woulda been SOL on that one. Thanks for the info man

So you have a S14 , right? because in mine there is a dial, in my S13 there were two buttons one for increasing brightness, and one for dimmer dash lights. The dimmer is probably cheaper for the S14s.
