after we installed the new throwout bearing and asembly in my transmission and the new slave cylinder , i noticed my speedo wasn't workin at all , and on my way to school this morning , i punch the gas and get up to around 3500 rpms in 5th gear and then the engine cuts just like when yu top it out...idk what the hecks going on!?!?!?! does the speedo and throttle cut have anything to do with eachother? what should i check for both of these things...by the way , its an 89 hatch , with the SOHC 5 speed , we completely removed the transmission and my mechanic thouhgt he wired everything back up... please help

the speedo probably isn't hooked up. it's the thing that's held in by a small bolt at the back of the transmission, near the driveshaft.i don't know if it would cause a fuel cut but if your speedo isn't working, i would figure that it needs to be looked at first.
