if it is first ticket in couple of years. you might get lucky and lower the fine. They know where to put their a.. down to catch the poor drivers. that's the only thing I miss from Europe, the autobahn. Man you know what the funniest part in there. They have less accident/car on autobahn than we have in North America on the hwy.

Most cops are pretty saavy about brining in the documentation they need to argue a calibration issue. I'd avoid arguing the credibility of the officer or the radar unless there is actual proof something was askew.

If you have traffic school available, I'd recommend using it. At 91 mph, it's going to be hard to argue that there was anything safe about that speed. If it was maybe 70-75 mph, you might be able to try and argue that the speed was safe for conditions, but i doubt any judge would buy that at 91 mph.

And I probably wouldn't bother with seeing if the cop will show up or not, unless you are dealing with the Fullerton courthouse in Orange County as the judge usually asks at the beginning of the session who is there just to see if the officer shows and lets you pay the minimum fine if the officer happened to show (disclaimer: it's been a long time since the last time I was in the Fullerton courthouse for traffic court). I fought 6 tickets before and only once did the officer not show.

Our NJ Governor Corzine was doing 91 MPH & just got out of the hospital today. He was not wearing a seatbelt when the SUV crashed on the Garden State Parkway. The ******* state trooper was driving. So far no one has gotten any tickets. Therefore why should you? You were only doing what the NJ governor was doing. I'm sure after the judge hears your story he'll throw your case out? If not it sounds like a Supreme Court Case to me?

Got one doing 80 in 65 in cali. Da*n Police. Gonna go tomorrow and get an extension on the court date and then go back and get another extension. It really screws the cops schedule up. Then I am going to plead not guilty and get another court date. Fingers crossed... He dont show. Good luck. Wes

If I had a choice to die or be in the wheelchair. I'd pick die. I'd like to live till I can take care of myself. If somebody has to look after me that's where I'd like to end. I think if you have an accident 80 or 120 or more that's a different. live in wheelchair or die. I know it is hars but that is the real life.

its really hard to fight on radar guns , well try but it will cost your time and little gas but you gaining 30-70 chances it could turn around, the judge itself dont know anything he listen on both of you but no other witnesess but ofcourse judge always on cops side , think of something that may help lower you speed , i have my friend he always fought for every ticket he got 1 out of 3 he won and the other one he got he's speed lower , he ask for eveything like black and white copy , well its all up to you anyway , pay and go to school = done, or gamble either way but goodluck , me i learned my lesson.....take care

There is a book out on how to fight speeding tickets. I can't recall the name but I'm sure a friendly librarian can assist you? One thing I do remember reading is to change the day of the week from the first court date and keep postponing. It may be worth hiring an attorney but if you can't afford it, perhaps a 3rd year law student may be willing to assist you?

biggest reason to fight this was the "Chip" acted like a real tool while he gave me the ticket. Anyone familar with our 15 freeway knows you have to really jump on it to get on this freeway as everyone is going at least 80.I'm not a kid.... I've got kids that drive...... Just thought he could have treated me with a little respect as I am his elder. I'm not a cop hater... my best friend is a OC sheriff. I have time to play with him a little so posponments are definetly the plan.

for a cali ticket just go to court. if you show up and say your sorry they will (if you ask the judge) not put any points on your record. you will pay the fine no-matter what in cali though. oh well, just gotta be more carfull then. you may have to do a trafic drivers course though. well, too bad, so sad. ive had a couple too :P

I have a losing record in court. In fact, I only won half of a ticket. This one was a non-moving, but of 2 charges, I got one dropped. The other was a default win since the cop no-showed, but I had a good case and the officer was aware that I knew and understood the laws and their intents quite well based on the conversation we had when he wrote me the ticket.

The only other one I won never went to trial. I had been caught driving on a suspended license and I talked to the DA in the pretrial as I wanted to contest one charge that the cop tried to pin on me. The DA ended up letting everything but the suspended license charge go, but did lower it to an infraction from a misdemeanor.

Noone can ever claim to have a fullproof method, but with this attorney you speak of, he may know enough to draw out the proces, in which case, a judge knows it costs too much to pursue such a matter. However, you'll likely end up paying quite a bit in attorney's fees. If you have traffic school available, I'd use it. If not, it might be cheaper in the long run, to try and keep it off your record, but there is never a guarantee.
