Speeding ticket in my 89 Jeep cherokee

[Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT]

I got a ticket on Friday night in my Jeep. I was going 67 in a 60. I knew the speedo was a little off but not 7 mph.

Any way I had it at a dead 60 reading with the cruise on.

The cop was such an ***. He was like you were going way to fast. So i said to him... wasn't it a 60 zone? He was like yes it was and you were going almost 70. So i looked at him puzzeled and was like that is only 10 over!

Then he goes well you were going 7 over the speed limit. (I had 3 other people in the car hear him say that so he had to give me a ticket for that speed.)

He then goes, well you won't be doing any drinking and driving tonight... I was like no I don't ever drink and especialy this weekend when cops like you are out harrasing innocent people and not pulling people over for drinking!

I then told him don't you have better things to do with my tax dollars. Like pull some one over that was going 8 mph over the speed limit

Then he was like oh you are a wise guy.. I told him no but only to stupid cops that waste my time and my tax dollars. I said an a another thing... I can't wait to see you in court, When i tell Mike Rossie (Like 3rd in charge of all pasco Sherrifs and Personal family friend!) about your waste of my time and he sees that you pulled me over for going 7 over the speed limit.... You are going to hear it at work!

I signed for my ticket and pulled out! I left him in a dust cloud when i took off as i was on a dirt road that i pulled onto.

I called Mike and he told me to bring him the ticket and that not to even worry about a court date! He said that he would take care of it and void the ticket out!

I'm not flaming you here, but I think if you read this after you've cooled down you may have a different take on it. You admitted you knew you were speeding, so pay your fine like the rest of us do, and learn by it.

That sucks man. They will start pulling you over at 7 over because that's the threshold for radar...radar is accurate to within +/- 7 MPH. I know you were upset in the moment but giving him a hard time wasn't a good idea...he's just doing his job. I know, I've been pulled over too and was not happy about it and gave the officer a hard time and he only got stricter with me...wouldn't knock it down a few MPH or something. But its nice to have connects within.

Since you knew your speedo was off, you could have said you recently had new tires put on and they weren't the same size. He could have taken you up on that challenge and followed you and gunned you again. It works, I had a buddy do it.

Well i tested it with my GPS and i At 60 was doing 62 according to the GPS. I was just using it like 2 miles before i got pulled over! So he stuck me with 67 because the cruise was on and it never changed. When i get a ticket that i deserve... I just pay it. But when i get a ticket that is not deserved, well that really makes me mad and i take them to court or have a connection fix it for me. I know that the GPS are not off becasue the are accurate with in one mile per hour. It is just as wrong to speed as it is to give a ticket for speeding when the person really wasn't speeding just to make a quota!

The ticket says LAZAR, YOU KNOW ALL COPS WRITE IN CAPS

Now that I look at my ticket it says "SR 54 east bound at Stonegate, LOL Jeeps"

I know now that bastard had a thing for Jeeps.

He did say something like "I think your jeep is leaking something"

Look my father is an alcoholic, And if I had a dollar for every time he would dive home drunk i could retire right now!

I can't tell you the times he should have been pulled over. And the one time he gets pulled over. the cop didn't want to do all the paper work to take him in that night, He drove him home and i had to go get his car.

While he was lucky, He should have been in jail for the night.

I am completly for DUI checks and things like that. I don't drink and drive because it is stupid and you endanger a lot of people!

I think cops... and especally on this weekend should be out getting drunks off the road or seat belts tickets for people not putting them on! pulling people over for speeding 7 over.. Even tho i was only going 2 or 3 over is a waste of time and really doing less for the rest of the drivers out there that could be harmed by a drunk driver.

Mind you I got pulled over at about 11 pm.

Cops should be pulling people over for doing 11-30 over because that is about other peoples saftey!

I was in a Lifted 4X4 Jeep with 33 inch tires. It bearly goes 65 on the speedo going down hill lol.

Just a poor judgement. And what is sad is he was a older guy and I do tend to respect them as they are older and deserve that! But sometimes old people get out of line and you just have to stand your ground!

Sorry to hear about that ticket. The best response when pulled over are "yes sir," "no sir"Just plead not guilty and go to court. A lawyer that specializes in traffic violations in the local jurisdiction can help

Well done! Way to handle the situation. 7 miles over the speed limit is truely unbeleiveable. Only reason the cop would act that way maybe because of the memorial day weekend where they are told to be extra sensitive to even small speed increases. Other than that the cop should have given you a warning and let it go. Sorry about the ticket anyway.

I then had a scare today!

There was a cop clocking and I was in my G! I thought i was speeding but when i looked i was only going 50 in a 55!

I guess the G feels faster than it is and fords mustangs are the fastest cars.. to break down!

He is a good family friend but an @ss at the same time! And has been an @ss to my father about a parking ticket before!

As for using a cop to get out of a ticket that was given to me by another cop, well that is Just Genius and a in the face for the other cop for giving tickets for 7 mph over the limit (I was only going 2-3 mph over) and for lieing about it speeding!

Memorial Day weekend they probably were stopping everyone breaking the law just a little bit to check sobriety. You and this cop got off to a bad start. Even at 7 mph over the limit you are still speeding. Although you were probably keeping with traffic which is usually the deciding factor.
