I heard about this on the news this morning while I was getting ready for work... Apparently, you can get alerts on when/where speed traps are known to be on your cell phone... anyone else ever heard of/tried this??

the site is trapster.com... again i just heard about it on the news this morning while I was getting ready for work... so I just thought I'd see if anyone else heard about it...

I just checked it out today actually, haven't signed up because I didn't see any useful info on the map other than where cops sometimes sit... Looks pretty new too, all the top posters are "newbies".

Great idea though. Direct link: http://www2.trapster.com/

Yeah its brand new. It works like GoogleMaps but alerts you of possible speedtrap areas.

Basically it works by users of the service sending in a warning when they see/drive by a speed trap via their GPS enabled cell phone. The GPS coordinates are sent to their web server and the speed trap is added to their map interface.

Haven't read much on this service in particular, but technology today allows navigation systems will be networked so one can tell (in realtime) traffic congestion/accidents/speedtraps/roadwork/etc... I'm sure you will see more nav systems able to do this soon.
