Yea i brought my bad boy to the mechanic the other day he did an engide read with the computer thing - said the speed sensor was why the check engine light was on. speedometer wiorks feels a lil off but it works. i was wondering what i could look for before i spend 100 on a new sensor plus gettin the guy to change it cosuse thatll be a fortune itself ok thanks guys

Junkyard... dig for a speed sensor, not even 5 bucks!

also would the speed sensor make the transmission not shift? i mean it sounds silly but i dont know cause the speend sensor is in the transmission. just wonder that too cause my car has a tendancy not to shift but thats rare ok thanks

Yes it can cause the transmission not to shift or shift at the wrong points. Just get one from a junkyard and change it yourself. Not hard at all to do. Just one 10mm bolt holding it in. I think you may have to splice the wires, but it still a very easy fix that you should be able to do yourself in about 1/2 hour if you solder the connections.

Oh yeah, the reason it won't shift isn't because the sensor is in the transmission, it's because the computer is looking at the signal from the speed sensor to help it know when to shift.

Where exactly in the transmission is it? above or below? cause if its below i wont be able to get it up on jacks to get it so if its on top just give me a basic idea if you can of where that bad boy is and i can hopefully try and get itthanks

It is towards the back of the trans on the tail cone on the right(passenger) side(I think) You have to be under the car to get it out. Most junkyards will lift the car for you if you need them to, especially because they don't want to be liable if the car falls on you and you die or are severely hurt.

so what exactly does this sensor look like - i went to the junkyard and they said they didnt know what it was - go figure- and i odnt know what im looking for so just a basic idea of what it looks like would be apreciatedthanks
