Speed sensor question

I have a 92 vert and my brother did a 5speed swap a while back and the transmission he used was out of an 89' and had the speedo cable. If I remove the speed sensor (elec.) from the auto transmission, would it fit in the manual one? Well this is what I was told but I haven't looked at it. I have searched the forum and have found nothing that would help answer this question.
