so my speed sensor on my rb25 in my s14 got a little dinged up during a clutch replacement and now my speedo isn't working at all. My question is:

If the speed sensor were bad, would it prevent the odometer and trip from operating as well?

lol yes

with no speed reading, theres no way to know if the car is moving, hence no odometer.

yeah.... thanks kamin.... I been so stressed out over this I totally answered the question myself after I had posted this thread. Aparantly somehow after bolting the transmission back up and mounting it the side of the speed sensor got forced against the transmission housing. Guess that did what it took to kill it. Looks like I'm going to have to notch a hole out for it when it goes back in next time ! Ever heard of this happening before?

hahah same thing happened to me with my Talon.. i was wondering why the hell my transmission wasnt going any further when trying to put it back on during motor swap and got pissed at it and just gave one huge push then heard a crack... sure enough broke the speed sensor casing. But glad thats what the crack was and not something serious, it was an easy fix.
