Ok so my speed sensor isn't registering anything on my speedo so according to my speedo I'm always doing 0 mph. Although it would be nice to tell the cops I must not have been speeding because my speedometer is saying I'm going 0 mph; it usually doesn't work that way and I need to get it fixed to avoid getting caught speeding. I just recently finished my SR swap (redtop) and now the odometer and speedometer don't do anything but everything else seems to work fine. I tried to swap my KA's auto speedo for the SR's speedo but only ended up loosing $30 worth of mobile 1 gear oil. After unsuccessfully trying to hang myself with the speed sensor wires I went to autozone only to find out a manual speed sensor is like $60. My questions are: should my SR's speed sensor work with my swap or do I need to get a manual speed sensor out of a KA and suck up the $60 to get my odometer/speedometer working? I thought you could get away with using the SR's stock speed sensor but I guess not.

The SR speed sensor will run the US speedometer.

It sounds like you did an auto to manual conversion. If so your wires may have gotten mixed up below the battery. The lower engine harness carries the speedo wires through it from the transmission to the main wiring and eventually to the gauge cluster. Yellow black and yellow blue if I recall. Make sure the wires are properly set up in the harness.

I used the SR's lower harness; is this going to make a difference?

Not really, all the wires are there on the SR harness, what I am concerned about is whether they were properly wired into the US wiring below the battery by the frame rail. The pins are not the same if you had an auto and are using a manual lower harness.

I jumped the wires it tells you to in the 5-speed conversion write-up. The only issue would be if the SR's manual lower harness were different than the one's used in the manual KA. The car runs/drives great and all the lights seem to work fine; I just can't get the speedo/odometer to work.

Check to see if the yellow black and yellow blue wires have the same pins at that connector. If they are reversed the speedo will not work.
