speed sensor issue

I have a 96 Infiniti J30 and check engine came on a few weeks ago and as if it was a curse i need to go pass emissions and the OBD2 says its the speed sensor but I have changed it and still no luck it came on about 30 min after I replaced it . Now question I had and needed help on, does this car have just one sensor on the transmission or is there an input and output sensor located where i can work on it . Thank you in advance for your help.

It's the [31935] REVOLUTION SENSOR you replaced?

The speed sensor is completely different from the Revolution sensor. The revolution sensor is on the transmission and I'm pretty sure it doesn't throw a CEL. It just makes your AT light flash and gives you prolonged shifts.. The SPEED SENSOR is on the back of the car somewhere near the rear wheels. Look it up in the FSM under the INDEX you should find how to check it first, then replace it.

sorry for the late reply took a trip to Chicago but yes its that sensor that i replaced any ideas of other sensors it may be

check the ecu for codes. easiest method to determine your problem

If you meant yes you replaced the Revolution sensor it sounds like that was the wrong sensor. As Alex said its back to the rear of the drive train. (<--- Speed Sensor)
