I went through the forum recently and discovered that my steering tightens up while speedometer reads zero while driving less than 30 mph because I need a new SPEED SENSOR.

Well, I went to order one and I see that one sight shows one speed sensor for a 96 Q and another site shows that there is a left front speed sensor and a right ( I think I saw a rear sensor too).

i also have read on this forum that I should try tightening the philip head screws on it, but did not see any phillips head screws.

Can someone please point me in the right direction with the speed sensor? Maybe i can tight it or clean it or something before I order one. I just spent over a thou on my suspension and tires. Where are they located?

Thanks all. I dont know what I would do without this forum. If it wasnt for this forum, I would be thinking i have a problem related to the transmission.

Sure you weren't looking at ABS sensors?

If you car has TCS AKA Traction Control System, your car has 4.

If it does not then it has 3.

There is also a speed sensor on the transmission I beleave.

You really need to figure out which one it is, with traction control it would be easier because you can perform the diagnostic to see.

The speed sensor on transmission tail shaft feeds the speedometer and power steering system. If the speedometer appears normal the sensor is probably ok. Measure the drive voltage to solenoid valve from power steering computer at terminal 7 on check connector [where Consult Plugs In].........................compare voltage vs vehicle speed and back trace to find the actual defect.

thanks all for the info!

I was on infinitihelp.com and read somewhere that active suspension was not on any q45. anybody know this to be true?

btw, it sounds like the rear speed sensor causing the steering to be tight and the speedometer to be at zero.

Wait...WHAT?Active suspension was ONLY on the Q45. Q45a has active suspension. Standard Q45 and Q45t do not. Maybe that's what they meant?

I meant to say that i heard a rumor on the forum that all 96's q45's did not have any active suspension. Was there a 96 Q45a?

How can I confirm Q45 does not have active suspension on a 96 Q45? The vin number does not seem to show it.

You see, I ordered a pair of strut mounts for my 96Q and they sent me a strut mount for a Q without active suspension (so they said). The mount they sent has three screws while my existing strut mount only has two screws. The parts dept ey told me that I probably have an active suspension which I do not believe I have.

So, how do i confirm what i got so that I can tell the parts guy they sent me mounts for an active suspension or whatever?

Your parts department must be full of retards, read this: http://q45.org/techinfo.html

Whats the part number to the stuff you got from them?

Your 1996 Q45 (Assuming its a USDM car) does not have Active suspension!!!

Sent you invites to Nissan FAST and Q45techs posts and more.
