Does the combination meter (speedometer) on a '08 2.5s sedan with base audio have the ability to send the speed sensitive volume signal to an audio unit? If so, what pin on what plug?

Yes, look on this write up, near the bottom...

its DEFINATELY in pin position #31, but the color was different between the 2007, 2008 Altima Sedan and the Altima Coupe... so it may not be the purple/white wire, but again its definitely pin # 31
