Speed Sensitive Intermittent Windshield Wipers

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Has anyone noticed any difference in windshield wiping intervals when driving at different speed? I've already turned that feature on in the computer but I couldn't notice any difference when driving at different speed!

I do not own this car personally, however I have worked on many of these cars and other like it, do you have a rain sensor/light sensor that is what is supposed to control the wipers? I have never seen one that worked off of speed (that i was made aware of)

Yes, I've noticed shorter intervals at higher speeds. It's not drastically different but I find it useful.

Does this work when the wipers are on low and high speeds only? I have also turned my speed sensitive option on and have not noticed any difference. It must be very slight decrease when turned on.

No, it only affects intermittent wiper speed.

I'm guessing Nissan uses the same system as the M35. I, too, wondered why my $60,000 car's wipers wouldn't change with speed.

Turns out that the change is ever so minor. At a certain speed, they get a little faster.

It is more of a marketing gimmick

Does the EX35 have rain sensitive wipers or just speed sensitive? I know I have that on the Murano, but I usually have it turned off becuase I use the Rain-X wiper fluid that works AWESOME!

No rain-sensitive option is available. Only speed-sensitivity in intermittent mode can be configured.

That's funny that they would have rain-sensitive wipers on the Nissan, and not on the EX35. I believe it is on the FX though.

That doesn't make a lot of sence Infiniti usually has things about a year or two before they are introduced into the Nissan line. The 09 FX has them as an option and I think its standard on the FX50.

The speed sensitive wipers do work although it's nothing dramatic. The rain sensitive ones are a trip, you set them to intermittent and they just come on randomly when the car feels like turning them on.

I find the 'speed sensitive' wipers only have a noticeable effect when you pull up to traffic lights or otherwise come to a stop. They go a lot slower (in intermittent mode), and then when you pull away again they speed back up.
