Ok, I've searched "speed limiter" and read the entries on it, but can't find what i'm looking for. My car's a 95 with a stock ka24de and a 5 speed. I've hit 120 before, and right when I did it felt like I lost all power. Was this a speed limiter or rev limiter? I think I was running about 5k rpm's and in 5th (obviously). I do realize that there are wires going into the ecu that can be cut or put on a switch, but dont know if those affect speed or rev. Truth be told I'll probably never go that fast again, but was just wondering which is stopping me.

its the speed limiter. you get up there much faster in fourth than fifth, the torque kinda dies off.

yeah, I thought about downshifting to get there faster, but I'm new to driving a stick, and was worried that i might throw it into reverse or 2nd instead... if thats even possible

when your moving forward, the transmission won't let you put it in reverse unless your car is stopped. :)

how bout 2nd, any risk of that, or will the transmission not go into that because i'm moving too fast for the gear?

You can go into second going that fast. Just make sure you don't or hope you catch immediately do you can throw it in neutral or push back on the clutch.Just like you are goign to shift to 5th you might trow it back into 3rd. It shouldn't be any problem in shifting gears. If you have problems like that I recommend you get the automatic then so you can save your $$. I remember my friend was tellign me how to stop real quick when your doing 90. And I was like ok How do YOU stop. HE said he throws in into 2nd when going 90. Said he has done it a few times. It was his mom's brand new car only had like 5kmiles on it.Quite a bit of redlining.

you can do that, but it really really hurts the engine, and unbalances the car more when slowing down that help the braking. I would only use it after I got a good understanding of the car/5spd and only when it was absolutely needed.

to answer your original question you cut the eighth wire from the right of the ecu (yellow wire, green stripe)

and yes everything will still work properly

it wont work...i put a switch on mine and if i dont flip the switch back the cruise wont work...i guess the speed limiter also doubles as a speed monitor for the cruise or somethign like that...not too sure cant read schematics...anyone know who could tell me if i right or not?
