I may be freaking out over nothing, but with this I'd definitely rather be safe than sorry.

I just purchased 2 used, but in amazing condition 215/70r15 tires with an S speed rating, good for 112mph. I'm intending to put them on my 1993 240sx Hatch. I'm only going to use this as a DD to work and back, 10 minutes down the road, no highway, and occasional 1 hr one way highway drives to my g/f's. My average highway speed is roughly 80mph. Should I sell these and find others or will I be ok until I can afford a whole brand spankin new wheel and tire package?

I'm not going to be making these 1 hour highway drives daily, just like once a week or so. If they're rated for 112 mph and I keep pressure perfect on good days and like a little less on hotter days to make up for the expansion of air would I be ok?

Thanks

i have 205/65 on there now... to my understanding the first number is the width, and the second number is the percentage of the first number equals the sidewall height correct?

like: x/y=z z=sidewall height

if i'm right in saying that then: 205/65=3.15 and 215/70=3.07 UNLESS you subtract that number from x.... damn, i hope not lol, then 205/65 sidewall=201.85 and 215/70=211.93. even then, i think i'll be ok. i'll find out monday when they're mounted

wow... i'm in a math-y mood, i dont want to be, at all

im a math geek too but damn dood your thinking waay to much into it. honestly stick to just 60 series and 205 width. you dont want to go taller and wider...bad combo... if u go 215 at least the max would be 50 or 55 sidewall.

you should sell those tires and get the correct size and speed rating tires because those tires can throw off your odometer and the can make your ride suck.

i'm not sure if you're wear that your not suppose to down grade on the speed rating, but up grade or stick with the stock spec speed rating. the reason is because the lower the speed rating has weaker side wall and the load index number is lower. also, your suppose to stay as close as possible to the stock rim/tire size diameter.
